International students

IsoCamp attracts students from all over the world. Our international students enjoy visiting the United States, Utah, and Salt Lake City. To make the most of these great experiences, international students should prepare as early as possible.

VISA INFORMATION
The University of Utah International Student and Scholar Services is the proper resource for information regarding visas and other international-university relations. If you have been accepted into the course, you should begin preparing the appropriate paperwork for your visa, if required, as soon as possible. DO NOT WAIT TO BEGIN THESE PREPARATIONS! This may cause you to lose too much time and thus miss the required deadlines for a visa. The processing of visa paperwork can take several weeks (usually about 6) to complete and return to you before you can attend your visa interview.

We will sponsor students from other countries for a J-1 visa as a short-term scholar. The DS-2019 application is the most common visa form required to be completed, signed, returned to the University of Utah, and then processed before a visa interview can take place. We will send this form to international students who are admitted to the course. Please be aware that there are additional fees for such a visa, including a SEVIS fee (currently $180) and visa processing fee.

The IsoCamp administrators do not have expertise on visa matters. To confirm which forms, if any, are required for your specific situation and country of origin, please contact the University of Utah International Student and Scholar Services either via their website, by e-mail, or by telephone at (801) 581-8876. We are frequently asked if students can attend on a visitor visa (students from visa waiver countries, for example). Our office of legal affairs has advised us that this is not the proper visa, and that there may be a risk of denial to the student who is trying to enter the United States.
